    Component system..

I just got a component system, but i dont have an amp for it yet...

my question is, can i use just the speakers for now(powered by my HU) until i get an amp , and then hook it all up with the X-overs? or is that a problem?

    Re: Component system..

it should be fine. just install the speakers, x-overs etc. and run the hu amp wires to them. when you get the new amp just install it. its not going to harm your speakers to underpower them.. just may not sound that great

do you mean just the door speakers and not the tweet? because then that might be alright. i wouldn't hook up the tweet without the xover though

    Re: Component system..

Don't do it half-***...run new 14awg wire out to the Xovers, and buy at least a 50wpc amp for the speakers. You could use the head unit's amplifier, but the dynamic range is going to ****.

you can, just dont do it without the xover. i dont know how easily the tweet would blow due to playing low frequencys. not to mention if you hook up the xover and install it all correctly right now then you will have that much less work to do later and can get to enjoying your system sooner
