Windows cranks are generally held on by a little C-clip right behind the actual crank...you need a special tool to get these off...or the entire top part of the crank comes off to reveal a screw of some sort holding it to the shaft.
thats how i get the handle off?

Or if you're special like me, you can work it out with a flathead screw driverOriginally Posted by Jack Frost

you can use a flat screw driver and while rotating the window crank place the flat screw driver behind it so it can catch the clip. Be carefull not to tear the vinyl and make sure you keep an open eye because those clips sometimes can jump.

Not all cranks are held in place like that, though...as I found out taking mine off
Try both ways, it has to be one of them![]()
The Neon's use a clip to hold on the window crank handle. If you have a pick set you can pull it out. If you push in on the door panel around the crank and look behind the crank you will see it. Just be careful when you remove it they have a tendency to go flying. Good luck.
BTW you may be able to use a small flat tip screwdriver to remove the clip.
it on on the handle itself or is it where the plastic meets the metal rod?

Should be on the metal rod, directly behind the rear of the plastic handle.
Close to the end of the plastic is where you will find it, where it slides over the metal crank rod.
i wish someone lived close to me to do it....cause i can't get it for my life
go to napa spend 4 bucks and get a window crank removal tool for the time effort its worth it and not only that it saves you from chewing your car door up.
