Anyone mess around with different power levels going to DLS Iridium

How about 205W? Anyone on here have a set of Iridiums up and running? If you do then how much power are you putting to them?

I've got a set in Kick Panels. Powered by a US Amps TU-600. Thats 150watts RMS x 2 (at 12.5 volts). So I figure they see about 175-180 watts. They are crossed at 90hz.


Never had any problems and could probably run at 200 watts RMS as long as they are not run full range and have proper crossover.

What's the sensitivity on the Iridiums? If you were going to put that MBQ in your sig on them, I think you'd have a great combo. Put as much clean power on them as you can afford!!!

put as much clean power to ANY component set as you can afford. it never hurts to have sick amounts of headroom

I am still learning here and think I just made my first boo-boo last week. I put that MB Quart amp in my Honda going to the Focal 6x9's and my CDT components. The 6x9's are blazing away and sound just wonderfull. The CDT 5.25" mids also are booming away nicely. The CDT tweets were sounding just utterly amazing then.... pop .... they stopped playing! They are out now for service but I think we found they blew. I am looking into some protection for them but don't really know what happened other than too much power going to them. I was on a quest for power up until that point. It kept responding so I kept giving it but now I have to figure out how to prevent it.
The Iridiums are for the truck listed. I am amp poor right now as I have a 800.4 and a 550.2, both by Kicker. Of those only the 550.2 qualifies for the task of powering the Iridium 6.2's but if my math is correct it will give me 205W per side @4 Ohm. The spec in their sheet says like max power of 150W and RMS of 100W. I can't/don't want to destroy another set of tweets again. The CDT's were 160 RMS and I killed their tweets with 250W. I need to figure this out before I F-up again.

im about to be pushing 100 to mine haha. ive heard of ~250-300 being pushed to them without fail. however i would never put that much to them. 200 seems safe though. talk to tim french he could help you out quite a bit (his fourm name is tplaya07) i bought mine from him and he's been an amazing help. im sure he'd be willing to lend you some advice as well

ok ok ok... since most ppl disagree with me using an mtx amp, so guess i have to change my setup design now... i hope this will be the last choice of amp... eheh...
