Because their tweeters are harsh, and they dont produce midbass at all. They sound pretty clear though.Originally Posted by btmorris972
i know the top of the line kappa comps sell for $600 on crutchfield. the reviews i read on their site people seemed to be blown away.
i dont understand how a company could sell really crappy components for $600 and stay in buisness.

crutchfields prices are high. you can get the kappas for much cheaper than that else where. I still think infinity makes decent products, just need to work on their tweets, and midbass. They are far from crappy, but not high end imo.Originally Posted by btmorris972

I agree with the harshness of the tweeters on the kappa's. I have 682.7cfs and while they are crystal clear the high-end is harsh. I called Infinity and they were of no help and would not provide the schematic for the crossover - I am going to take the crossover apart this weekend and see if I can tone down the tweeter. I was thinking simply putting a resistor in the circuit (don't know the exact value to use) but all this would really do is drop the overall volume of the tweeter. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to take the harshness out?
Well I just got them and they aren't that bad, in fact Im glad I got them. I had the Infinity Referance series and blew one of the mids(my fault). And these just sound alot better. I know now about the "they don't produce midrange well" that everyone is saying, but these kappas do, in fact I had to turn my mid eq levels down a bit cause these do so much better. Well the Reference series **** a s s.
the perfect 6.1's are amazing if you have the money...
They should be shot for making the crossovers so fvcking butt ugly.![]()
