XXX mids vs. Adire Audio Extremis

I know this question has been asked before, but my question isn't so simple as X speaker vs. Y speaker.

Ok, I know these speakers are very similar. They can displace similar amounts of air, their about the same size, both employ XBL^2 technology and both are similarly priced. As far as I'm concerned, the only difference I need worry about is nominal impedance (unless the theil/small parameters makes one better suited to use in car audio, I have yet to really learn how the values can predict how the driver will perform in certain situations.). Here's the real problem, I'm going to use either the XXX or the adires as dedicated midbasses in fibreglassed enclosures in my doors. The smaller, the better. I'm going ot use a Creative Sound Solutions WR125S as a dedicated midrange in kicks and some tweeter (that I haven't decided on yet, any suggestions?). Which of the 2 midbasses I've chosen here would work best, in fiberglassed door enclosurers, with the CSS midranges? Power is not a problem, Dan has said that a car amp that can produce 100 watts into 4 ohmns will work VERY well with the 8ohmn Extremis. And, of course, the XXX's are 4 ohmn drivers.

So, which driver should I purchase?

    XXXs are 2 ohm.

extremis has a lower resonant frequency, and will be offered 4 ohm soon enough.

Neither of these mids are for inexperienced enthusiasts IMHO...

and yes XXX mids are 2 ohm

The Extremis will be offered on 4 ohmns? Did you hear this from a credable source? Dan over at soundillusions.com said that they will not offer the Extremis at 4 ohmns, although, that was a while ago.

Also, y do you say that these mids ar enot for inexperienced enthusiasts? While, I have never done a car install, I have experience building speakers for home use. I think the biggest problem would be setting the crossover correctly, and I plan on using an active setup, either an Eclipse HU, or an outboard unit.

Edit: The lower resonant frequency of the extremis is attractive, one point for the extremis.

Jlaine has 4 ohm extremis mids... I say they shouldn't be used by inexperienced users because they are EXTREMELY directional... if you are using them in a 3 way setup you probably know what you're doing.

But for a 2 way setup keep in mind you will want to aim these to get all that the have.

Um, I believe the advice I recieved said to use a laser pointer to aim the wooden baffle at the headrest.

Basically, I'm not gonna just jump into this, research, research, research.

Yes, I'm making ported pods for extremis mids right now and I'm having a hell of a time aiming them, I want to make sure it's perfect, cause I'm not doing these again for a while...

Are you just looking for that sweet spot? Or are the midbasses really that sensative to placement that a deviation of a few degrees really makes, or breaks, their performance?

I'm using them in a 2 way setup, so I need the higher mids as well, if you were going to use them as dedicated midbass I don't think it would be as much as an issue, but for a 2 way application, these things have to be aimed right.

ok, that's good news. I'll be a lot easier to aim a 4 inch woofer than a 7 inch one.
