Looking to add a singe 12" sub to the DD (Lexus RX350).
I've narrowed down the choices to either an SSA ICON or IDQ12 v3.
Sub will be powered by a DLS RA10 amp running 2 ohm.
Which do you think would be the best choice?
Thanks

Idq will have better sq.
That isn't a fair comparison is it? I'm mobile so can't look it up but isn't the icon rated for 1000watts rms vs the idq at like 500?
The dcon would prob be better comparison vs the idq for sq. Imo

I've read the IDQ will take 750w. The RA10 puts out 500w in 2 ohm so power isn't an issue.
The ICON is closer to the IDQ in terms of price than the DCON. Also the ICON is SSA's "SQ" sub.
How is the SQ beter in the IDQ?

The Dcon is very musical and I have seen them take up to 500rms daily. An accurate sub.
Also, lower price is a good thing, not a bad thing![]()

All our subs are our "SQ" subs. We don't make SPL drivers.
Both the Icon and IDQ are great drivers that will sound awesome in their respective enclosures, but we need to focus on what your goals are. So best choice for what? Other then the amp, we don't have any other info on your system or intentions.
Side note, I ran a single Icon 12 sealed off 240 watts for a while and demo'ed to a number of people and they had no idea that I was running that low of power.![]()

the icon 12" is not a very good deal imho. while i like the dcon and its price/performance, the icon does not maintain that ratio very well.
u can buy a $200 15" FI ssd, or dc lvl 3 and it will be louder and still have pretty good sound quality. while it may give up some sound quality, it will be much louder.
if i wanted to run a single 12" sub for SQ but get as loud as i can, i would try and find an IDMAX for $200 ish or i would choose one of these because of price/performance ratio
