How early is too early for a show?
We're working on several shows for next season and it makes me wonder, how early in the season is too early for most people to actually come out and compete here in New England? In 2008 we did a dB Drags show the first weekend of May and had a great turnout, although a few guys were still building. Whats the general consensus on shows starting in the middle of April instead of waiting til May?
Re: How early is too early for a show?
Up here in NY we are a crazy lot. Were having a show Feb. 22nd! LMAO Burrrrr!
Re: How early is too early for a show?
why cant you do it indoors and have it year round?
Re: How early is too early for a show?
it can be done indoors, but the overhead costs would be insane and we'd most likely take a big loss on such a show. Example being the Drags 3X last March in Niagara Falls. The show we did here last May ended up being indoors, but that was cause it started raining and the shop had an install bay big enough to fit 10 cars, so they let us bring the show indoors. But I wouldn't count on such a thing every time.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
Sooner the better. That way i have a better shot if other ppl are still installing, lol.
And That shop in worchester, he doesnt have a lot big enough to host a show.. :(
I will ask a few other places i know of if you want.

I have already been to 3 shows in maryland for the 2009 season.
One was Oct.
One was Nov.
One was Dec.
probably gonna be one each month throughout the year.

If you know of any other places feel free to ask them. You can have them contact me through the website. I'm in the process of working on 10 different shows so far, it's looking to be a busy season for us here in New England in 2009, should be 15-20 shows, plus dB Drags shows.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
Steve, for years, USACi has always started here the 3rd week in April. That was the old Pirate Radio shows.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
indoor shows are fun,but i threw one a few years ago,and the cost was too much to even come close to breaking even,in fact i only got back what the arena cost, the trophies and event registration fee i had to eat, wife wasnt happy, lol.Anyway i am hosting one Feb.22 like rob said,so its never too early, sometimes having the 1st show of the year pays off because people have that itch
Re: How early is too early for a show?
there's no shows around here:(
Re: How early is too early for a show?
I'm thinking of doing a db Drags show the second weekend of May, but we'll see. Also looking at a possible series of night shows too.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
to early would be the day after any finals
have to have a chance to rebuild
Re: How early is too early for a show?
Night shows are my favorite. I really miss Curry Audio.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
Hey Nate, was Curry Audio the shop in Milford Mass? I emailed them a couple times and still haven't gotten any response from them about running a show at their shop.
We're working on the details for six night shows, and I just gave Mark from USACi a night show to do in CT so there should be a few night shows around.
Re: How early is too early for a show?
It's too bad that Circuit City folded, we were looking to do at least three shows at the CC in Boston and possibly some other stores. Hmm, wonder if we can get one at a Best Buy instead.
