I'm Anthony "vISUALHype" recently discovered the forum, and decided to register

I currently have a basic setup in my 1999 Chevy Malibu LS
Deck: Kenwood KDC-HD548U
Subwoofer: 12" Alpine Type R
Amplifier: Alpine MRX-M100
Box: Simple 12" Ported box from bestbuy, I'll be making a box soon enough once I get paid again.

I'm 19 years old, currently going to school for Digital Arts, might change degrees soon, not sure.

Hi, get to it you will be happy. Sheet of mdf at my local home depot is 33 bucks + 15 bucks for glue and screws. Maybe a thing of calk. But ya 50 bucks should do it. There lots of box builds here to look though. Stick with 2-2.5 @ 30-34ish hz I was happy!

Yeah I have it currently at 32hz, as best as I know how to I guess haha thanks.

What was the 2-2.5 before the hz? I just noticed that.

That's how big your box needs to be for the type r. and that best buy box is not tuned to anything they just throw them together there pretty useless.

Yeah thats why I'll be making myself one, I've actually had seconds thoughts on my Type R, it doesn't hit as hard as I want, probably due to the box, but I was thinking of getting an RE SE-X 12" any thoughts on that? its cheaper than my type R too.

your running 1000 real watts if you build a box the type r is loud. You will have to be careful running 1 Of those RE there like 500-600 rms max but dont know if thats just what the box says. Never had one sorry. Someone might let ya know though.

Thanks Miller, and JJ my Type R is actually an 8ohm woofer, I have it bridged down to 4ohms which is the 600RMS, and the amp at 4 ohms does about 600rms.
