A friend of mine suggested I check this site out. I'm new to car stereos and am just trying to soak up as much as I can. I know a little bit about audio, I've been a musician most of my life and have done a little bit with live sound. This is a first with car audio, though. It's a totally different world.
Anyway, my car right now is a 99 Tahoe. For the moment I have a Pioneer DEH-P580MP pushing 2 KS650.2 componants in my front doors and a zx400.1 pushing a 12" Kicker CVT. This is my temporary set up. This is what I plan to get (for now):
Note: Still learning about how all this works, so I'm not sure what I may change
Pioneer DEH-P980BT HU
4x6.5 kicker KS series in doors (2 comp. in front)
Pioneer PRS-D4200F (pushing doors)
2x12" Kicker CVX (not sure if I want ported or sealed... probably sealed)
Kicker ZX1500.1(pushing 2x12"s)
I want to learn about deadening my doors and maybe see what options I have with speaker placement for better imaging. I hate having my sound shooting at my feet...
For right now I'm still trying to get a better grasp on matching speakers w/amps and setting things up. Trying to get a handle on the electrical aspect of it all.
What I really want is precise, loud, punchy bass and good clear highs. My system now sounds okay, but I feel like I'm missing a lot in the middle. Notes that are too high for my sub and two low to get much power from my door speakers. I thought to put a couple 8"s in the back, but I'm afraid the sub(s) would just drown it out.
Anyway, you smart people just keep talking and I'll keep reading.
