I was having some electrical issues when I installed a system in an 02 ext cab chevy. Anything over around 600w, and my subs would pop and the truck would die sometimes, especially on long low bass notes. All I did was install the battery near the amp with good ground and good quality 4g and all my dimming and voltage problems are completely gone. One kick *** little battery and at around $60, a good investment.
