Anyone ever listen to a HDCD encoded disc with a cd player that decodes HDCD? My home setup incorporates this decoder and I recently purchased a Japanese import of "The Wall" in HDCD and I couldn't believe the difference. Much more 3-dimensional than regular cd.

I've got Dylan's Blood on the Tracks in SACD...not quite as good as analog, but close. Certainly better than standard CD's.

All 16bit, 44.1khz sampling frequency cds are inferior to vinyl. 24 bit cds are a step in the right direction but still inferior. About the only thing I think holds its own to vinyl is cassete.....j/k . Seriously, I think 2 channel SACD and 2 channel DVD-A are really close. All systems being equal. It wouldn't make much of a difference on an inferior system.
