HDS Nomex 164 Towers. Troels Gravesen

So I had 4 extra of the HDS Nomex 164 mids (830875) laying around and decided to try and make use of them. I then found a design that utilizes 4 of them: PEERLESS-NOMEX-164

This is practically my first worthy home audio build (noob).

The cabinet will be made out of mdf. I'm unsure of how to finish them. I've never veneered before, so I might just paint them somehow. Possible some textured paint.

Drivers:

Peerless HDS tweeter 810921 (also Scanspeak D2608/9130)
I've had these install in my car year ago. I liked them a lot. Very smooth detailed and easy on the ears. I'm sure I'll be pleased with them outside of the car as well.



Peerless HDS Nomex 830875
My only experience with these was hearing them in kickpods in a tin-can '93 civic hatchback. They are capable of a lot of output and can be very snappy in the midbass region. Due to the environment and lack of tuning, I will not comment on their midrange.

Baffers:

With the truncated flanges, some extra steps were involved with the flush mounting of the mids.



Double up:


Then flush cut the cutout on the bottom layer


Next was to predrill the mounting holes with a centering bit:

The crossover

I'm quite the noob with both the solder iron and crossovers. If Troels didn't include a picture of the finished crossover assembled, I'd probably be lost.

I recently build a subwoofer and wrapped it with 1/8" or 1/4" (whatever size it was) oak plywood, the kind you use on the sides of kitchen cabinets. You could do something like that then put corner molding all around, just a suggestion.

The original look of the design won't match any of my furniture. I might just spray it with some textured paint.
