    Suggestions for Preamp/Processor + Amp?

My Logitech Z-5500's are beginning to crap out ... Pretty sure I lost rear channels completely.

I want to get a preamp/processor and a decent sized amplifier for 5.1 or 7.1. I already have a 12" Eclipse sw5200 ready to build with a 500w amp to go with it. Will likely build custom speakers from one of the Parts Express projects page.

Not really sure of a budget to go with, since this will be my first real home audio system. Nothing cheap, but nothing too expensive. As many inputs as possible, tons of functionality, and can't go wrong with power overhead.

Actually, just naming a few companies would be really helpful. Is looking for <$1000 for both asking too much?

Outlaw Audio, Rotel, Parasound...would be where I'd look first Add to that list Adcom, Carver, Acurus for amps.

I have an Outlaw 990 pre/pro that I could part with if you need it. Newest firmware, set-up mic, manual, remote & box.

Parasound is where I would go for a multi channel processor if I was to go looking to buy one.

Re: Suggestions for Preamp/Processor + Amp?

There aren't too many 5.1 integrated amps that don't go ahead and include a broadcast tuner in them, as well as all the other bells and whistles that "A/V" receivers include.

2 channel integrated amps are much easier to find.

Take a road trip down to Ga and sample an Outlaw 990 & Parasound HCA-2205. The pre is awesome and the amp delivers 250wpc x 5 into 8ohms. More than enough for a nice little budget HT start. BTW, this Outlaw is pre problems with the latest firmware upgrade.
