    need some help on theater

i am wanting to build a system, more for theater. so far i have only bought a carver amp, pm-1.5, and some bose 901 series VI. I bought the bose pretty cheap($200) and could sell them and make a pretty good profit on them. should i keep em or sell em?

    Spending amount:

2 other amps $500 ea($1000 total) perfer carver
center channel amp $200 perfer carver
    preamp $600-$800
    dvd/cd $200-$500
    speakers/towers price undetermined

What should i get. prices are for used products: ebay,forums,etc...

I am not a home audio person but have been in caraudio for over 18 years(including some state competitions in the early 90's).

First of all sell the bose and the Carver....

Go audition some Home Theater speakers. B&W, Martin Logan, Focal, Wharfedale, others. Get a good processor (Rotel RSP-1068, Arcam AVR-280, Parasound Halo C2) and a good mulitchannel amp (Rotel RMB-1095, Parasound Halo A51) and call it a day...

I pieced together some pieces from Polk Audio and Pioneer. It gets expensive quick. I can post some pics if you would like.

It does get used a lot more, HOWEVER, the frequency spectrum that it is in charge of doesn't usually require a lot of power to get loud. You shouldn't 'skimp' on any part of your system, as a good general rule of thumb.
