Do most recievers NOT have a cd player built in?

Most of them I see on CraigsList do not have a cd player...is it going to be tough to find a deal on one WITH a cd player?

Re: Do most recievers NOT have a cd player built in?

yep, most recievers just have the internal amp, tuner, and like 5 or 6 inputs for different sources. you'll have to buy like a 5 disk changer or dvd player if you want to play cds

about the only receivers that come with cd/dvd players built in are the cheap ones that come as part of a HTIB......

The obvious reason most quality receivers don't include built in players is that a good receiver will last you years and years (i've got a receiver at my dad's house that's from the early 80's) and optical drives last a few years at best, and are cheaper to replace than repair.

true, mine is an actual receiver, 50x5 based on onkyo amps

    ONKYO'S VERSION

only difference i see is my toshiba has component video, other than that they look the same

anyways if having an all-in-one unit is important then i will sell you mine

Re: Do most recievers NOT have a cd player built in?

you ever wonder why they call them receivers?

but yeah aside from a radio, they just have inputs. CD players are cheap now anyways, so it's not an expensive add-on. If you are using it for a home theater, you can use your DVD player to save money/space.

If you have a device that already plays CDs and you aren't looking for a high end CD player just use that already existent device....
