If its volume you want and they sound good to you, get them.

Yeah, I figured that response was coming...there are different models of that Yamaha reciever though...anyone have any experience with any of those models??

I don't know much bout home audio, but what about some type of pro audio amp and a decent preamp or something like that? I have some CV RE-38s and a sonamp 260x3 on em and they get pretty loud but just beg for more power. They definately aren't the greatest speakers in the world , but I paid about $80 for them and they are pretty decent for a set of party speakers imo.
Also...what are you looking to spend?

Any RX-V should do you quite well, I liked what I had (RX-V series) and some others I played with.

Vega speakers are good for party speakers. They arent the type of speakers Im gonna use for Classical listening but if you want a good rock and roll speaker, something that gets loud and pisses off the neighbours than they will work nicely. For a reciever, look for something high current, they are gonna rate less wattage but more than make up for it. Also try to find something with full preouts on it, that way if you wanna upgrade to seperate components later you can by your amps first and use the reciever as a preamp and continue to build from there

It's for parties but also a STARTER HT setup..will definitly add more later so I want a nice reciever that will allow me to do it. The space is pretty big..not sure the measurements but my living room is a pretty good size.
