I keep changing my mind on a system setup. I just wanted some thoughts. I gotta work with what I can since I don't trust myself building crossovers, and lack the knowledge to make it work.

i need to order than behringer a500 amp....if you go into the partsexpress DIY showcase, look up the towers with the dayton mids in them, called Vince's HTS, thats what im copying, except im only doing 2 towers, not doing the 3rd tower or the center channel. its not for surround sound, its for rap music.
ive got all the drivers, just need that amp, crossover components, and to build the 2 towers. prally gonna use 3/4" birch and stain it. will look so much nicer than MDF.
i also have the behringer ep1500 (1400w rms) and will have some sorta 12" in my room....maybe an Fi Q, not sure yet. gonna be loud though

After receiver (hk 3480) it comes to about $1,000.
I am wondering how a good HTIB would compare.
I am looking pretty hard at the HT-TQ85 and it's quite a bit less. I am curious what is really a better choice.

1000$ home theatre in a box's:

all of those are fairly nice, but you said your using it for rap music, and that 3480 is a 2 channel reciever, so im not sure why your comparing this potential setup with HTIB's...
Two powerfull speakers and a powerful sub would undoubtedly be better that an HTIB for rap music, but not to great for movies and such, and vica versa.

I'm itching to upgrade to an EP2500. It's the worst decision i've made (buying the 1500), while also being the best decision I've made. Amp is great, solid, doesn't even skip a beat. However, it just doesn't have enough power for my tastes.
I haven't the money for that man. Crown and QSC are far beyond my price range. I just need good, reliable power for my sub. That's it.
Did you buy yet? I currently have parts to build a pair of Modula MT's and a center channel and it only cost about $450-$500 (without wood). I plan to build another pair of Modula MT's or use my Adire speakers for surround. My subwoofer is gonna be a RL-P15 in a sonotube.

Buyer: Thetalkingshoe, joshs98runner, theCybe, sephiroth619, chornet44, AK SloPok, Looney_Tune, 5.0, iLLest1aLive, scooter2479, SoundBarrier, tapout, jdc753, flatlander4510, etc.
How are you planning on putting these together? 2-way 3-way? What's the 10's for?
PV... Behringer is cheaper than QSC and Crown for a reason....
I did not buy most of what's on this screen shot after considering that a 2 channel setup wouldn't work very well for HT use. I thought it might but now I doubt it.
After consulting a few people, I have all but given up on these plans.
I purchased the EX-500. It is a pioneer elite dvd-player and reciever. I got it for $299. It may not be the best, but it is a start and I felt I got good value for the money as it plays most of the common formats. Also, the guy there said I should use componet video instead of HDMI and run everything at 480p vs. 1080i. (My TV is 1080i)

I have looked around at bookshelf surround speakers as I don't think those sats can produce all the sounds I am looking for. I still would like to go DIY, but I haven't found many projects that do 5.1.
The place where I bought the reciever from told me a good value is doing two pairs of the polk audio Monitor 30s, a CS-1 center channel and right now they are doing a special where if you spend $500, you get a free sub.
Here is a link to the bookshelf speakers I am considering:

HT is definatly more expensive then car audio.
i allready got a decent setup but thinking of selling all the speakers to my bro (his getting into HT also) and then buying new better speakers.
those bookshelfs are ok just a little small would make good surround speakers and then buy some towers
but here look around in these sites and see if you like anything.
