    Onkyo and Sony, good brands?

    For a receiver.

    I have heard that sony has pretty good receivers, but I havent heard anything about onkyo.

    Both companies offer very good Receivers. Did you have any particular models in mind?

    Hmm, both have some nice features. I'd do the Sony if I was worried about movies and hooking it to an HDTV (HDMI switching is nice).

    Onkyo probably has a better amplifier stage in thiers and would be my choice if I wanted a lot of music played through it.

    No but seriously if you are looking for some good stuff a little higher than entry level they both wouldn't be bad... I would almost go with the Sony over the Onkyo...

    wow i have been out of it a while, since when is onkyo even comparable to sony?

    a few years ago onkyo's basic line, not to mention the Integra line of amps were comparable to sony's ES line and all other sony's were ****, when did this change?

    It didnt change. I sell sony recievers and gererally speaking they are gutless ****. Im just starting to look at new recievers and I am looking at Onkyo, Marantz, Denon and Yamaha. Harmon/Kardon is nice as well but Im just not a fan of their sound. One thing is for certain, I refuse to buy anything not high current

    I'd rather run Pioneer than Sony. I have a Pioneer right now and a Denon for my whole house music. Denon and H/K FTW.

    Okay well I just ordered that onkyo from crutchfield.


    They dont even go for that cheap on ebay after shipping, and since they had free shipping and i get the full warrenty I couldnt pass it up.
