Bose 601 series I

I've just recently come across a pair of Bose model 601, series I.

The 4, 3" or so speakers seem fine, but both 8" woofers are blown and their surrounds have comepletely decayed. Is this speaker system worth fixing - and if so what woofer would be best used as a replacement?

bose is an acronym for Bring Other Sound Equipment... hope that answers your question

If the price was right I'd consider replacing all of the drivers and make a project out of it

Simple replace Bose, with BLOWS. Why because it BLOWS donkey balls.

Agreed^^.... They really don't sound good... The bass isn't low bass it's "fake" as my brother says it, and there is not presence in the high end, and the mid range just sounds weird.

???? These are the old bose from 1977...not the new models.???

So any suggestions on replacement drivers? I was looking at some Silver Flute 8" woofers, but I would love some other suggestions.
