2.1 reciever? i cant find any :(

im lookin for a 2.1 reciever for my room. planning to run a couple of creative sounds full range and a sub.

Best Buy has a 200W Sherwood (100W x2) for around $150 I think. Ebay was littered with them when I was looking for my 5.1. The problem with that is picking a diamond from the rough so to say...

is there any 2 channel witha a sub channel? or do i need to stick with the full rangers to handle the bass?

They're was a thread about this but i'll try to sum it up...

I wasnt able to find a 2-channel with an RCA sub out but what you could do, is find one with a A/B switch so it has 4 sets of speaker terminals. But make sure you can have but A and B channels playing at the same time. Some lower end receivers only allow A chanells playing or only B channels playing. Anyways, run your Creative's off the A channels and on the B, use a line-out convertor to convert it to an RCA signal to run to a plate amp or just run speaker wires from the termals to the sub itself...I think thats all correct, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't even need something that has A/B switching to run a plate amp off the high level outputs...any 2 channel receiver has the capability to run a sub if your plate amp has speaker wire inputs.

I've yet to own anything that has a dedicated subwoofer output...maybe because I've never owned a receiver

My Adire Rava works fine off high level input.

i have a Harmon kardon HK3470 it is a 2 channel reciever with a dedicated subwoofer output. Its a great reciever, and i just bought it, but i may be selling it if you are interested, i have decided to go a different dirrection with my home theatre and really have no need for this anymore- this kind of saddens me becasue it is a really nice reciever, but im jobless, so i could use the money, i bought it for 300, so you could have it for 250 shipped if your interested.

Why not get one that is a 5.1 and just use it as a 2.1???

i was thinking that too, but the 2.1's are cheaper

maybe should get a 5.1 surround sound is always nice

Meaning that you should have it for years, if you got a 5.1 and only used the front channels there is always the possibility that you can upgrade to a surround system if and only if you ever wanted too, which would be cheaper in the long run than buying two different receivers.

I have mine running in a stereo "Listening mode" then takin it to the college apt. next year for some real (well, better than what I have "real") fun.
