i've always been told that there isnt much audible difference in 100 watts, but i dont know if thats true...or if that helps you

It's in relation to the starting point If you compare 100 watts to 200 watts you will most certainly hear a difference. With all other factors being equal that is. However 250-350 I dunno. Thats still 40% increase in power, but whether that is an audible increase or not I just couldn't say.

    Re: look here.............

well as said before, you don't even NEED 1200 watts in the first place. i know of people feeding brahmas 300 watts for home theater.

    Re: look here.............

Doubling your power = increase of 3db (theoretically, without regards to power compression, etc)

So, obviously, going from 100w to 200w should yield an increase of 3db, which is simply "noticeable" (takes an increase of 6db - 10db to be perceived as twice as loud). Take that same 100w increase up in the power scale from, say 1200w to 1300w, and the difference is now so minute it won't be audible at all, netting an increase of only about .3db

    The formula is 10*log(P1/P2)

    So, 10*log(2/1) = 3db

10*log(1200/750) = 2.04db....which would be noticeable, though not an overwhelming difference

    10*log(350/250) = 1.46db...which would be barely noticeable

1db is said to be the smallest increase in output a human can detect.

    Re: look here.............

    Pretty much.

    But, remember, this all theoretical.

950w may be too much power depending on your enclosure. Power compression may start setting in below 1200w causing less of a noticeable difference between the lower power levels. Etc etc.
