    Bookshelf Design?

What are some tips that I should go by?

Say I want to use these speakers,

    http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...28&ctab=9#Tabs

    http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...number=264-822

Now, how do you calculate efficiencies of the whole?, power handling?, Final Ohms load?

I am extremely confused by all of this? But I want to build my own without paying out paying $400+ for a set of monitors.

Should I use these speakers together, or should I look into anything else?

    Jmac? Jack Frost? ss3079? squeak9798?

I'm utterly confused when it comes to Home Audio.....

    Re: Bookshelf Design?

Do you want to stick with 4 inch mids ? If this is your first project it is much easier and you will get a much nicer end results with an already designed system, where you buy the drivers and build a crossover but use plans from a web site.

    Not necessarily,

I just don't want everything to be drowned with bass... I have an Atlas 15" that is going to go with these...

i think a 6 inch would work better, it will have nicer midbass response, ive used the dayton 7inch aluminum and the 6.5 inch series 1 and 10 inch series 1, i think that the 6.5 dayton with their silk dome would work very well at verly little cost. Or are you looking for somthing more high end?

I'm trying to stay within a $50-$100 range for two tweets and two speakers...

    Re: Bookshelf Design?

I've also pondered of going with a tweet, 4" and a 6"... Would there be any down sides to that?

Which is why I'm going to agree with avistar and suggest finding an kit or plans where you construct it yourself, but they have all of the parts (or atleast a parts list) already pulled together for you. Pop your cherry sort of thing.

the dayton 5 1/4 aluminum with the silk dome will work very well, no questions asked.

ive owned that tweet and the 7 inch dayton aluminum, very nice drivers.

    Re: Bookshelf Design?

Now I know that PE has the whole kits, but do they have something where they give you the parts lists?

Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the links posted above...

    Re: Bookshelf Design?

    Avistar...you have six meter capability?

50MHz sporadic-E has been kicking *** here the past few days (well, as much as can be expected for this point in the solar cycle)...ZF1DC down in Grand Cayman was booming in here a few days ago, so I figure the propagation to your neck of the woods is good too.
