    In-wall speakers outside?

Would there be downfalls to putting a set of indoor, in-wall speakers in the walls of a garage (facing outdoors, but under a porch roof)? There is no insulation so the backs of them will not be closed in. The reason to flush mount them is to keep birds/bees/bugs from building nests on top of them.

They will be driven by an old school Technics receiver, back when they used to be worth a dam*, at 120w per channel at .01% THD. I'm looking at Klipsch, Boston Acoustics and Polk so far.

the problem with weather getting to a speakers is sun damage and moister. If you live in a dry climate and the sun will never be beaming on the speakers, you will be ok. The downfall , from my understanding, is that they are being mounted on the siding of a garage when the grage doesnt have interior sheetrock. If this is true, you will loose some output being that you dont have something for the speaker to resonate in.

    Re: In-wall speakers outside?

yeah i dont think the speakers would appreciate the weather.
there are outdoor speakers and i believe you can get them in the flush mount variety

    maybe like this

    or this
    http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=302-074

a little pricey but if you were looking at klipsch and B A i would think you were looking at spending around 200-250 a pair already.
those ones should have no problem in with what you are trying to do.

there are probably other better/cheaper ones i just used those as an example.
