    Questions About Pioneer Head Unit

    Hey guys! What's up?

Anyways, I have a Pioneer DEH-P3500 head unit. I am going to be installing my first sub and amp soon, so I was looking at the manual to look over some of the settings and I am a little confused. I was hoping someone could tell me what these settings actually do, if they are any good, and how I should use them...

NOTE: My sub is a 12" Kicker CompVR and my amp is a Hifonics BX1000D

1)Loudness - It is described as "compensates for defeciencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume" - It has 3 settings: low, medium, and high. To me, it just seems to make my music louder with each increase...

2)EQ-EX - described as "compensates for each equalizer curve" - Once again, when I turn it on, it just seems to make my music louder...

My next question involves which preset EQ I should use. My head unit has 5 preset EQs: Super Bass, Powerful, Natural, Vocal, and Flat. I have been using "Powerful" as it seemed to add some bass to my speakers (I dont have subs installed) and didn't distort too much like super bass. What should I use after I put my sub in?

    Thanks!

Re: Questions About Pioneer Head Unit

Hey Bro, I have the same HU as you do, just the next model up, the 3600. Just adjust everything to what sounds best to you.

LOUDNESS: I keep my Loudness setting at either Medium or High... Loudness boosts the low and high frequencies at low volumes, and diminshes them when you crank it. Next time your in your car, turn the volume up loud and try Loudness on and off... you wont hear much of a difference because the human ear can hear low and high frequencies more efficiently at high volumes. It really does make music sound better at lower volumes though, so use it!

EQ-EX: honestly I have no idea what this one does... But play around with the settings until you get the one that sounds best.

PRESET EQ: Don't use them. Make a custom equalizer setting... This is what i have: Low: +3 Medium: +3, High +4. But adjust it to what you think sounds best. Then theres another equalizer that only lets u adjust Bass and Treble on your speakers, but not your subs... I keep Bass at -1 (+2 since you dont have subs) and Treble @ +3

Whatever you do, just don't abuse your system and any setting you choose will be fine.
