what color is the wire?....im guessing its an inline fuse to your constant so that you dont fry your internal amp, but ive never worked with eclipse decks so i might be talking about my bunghole

DC-DC converter. It converts the power from the car to whatever voltage the decks various circuits need. in the process this can produce a lot of interference, so in theory, somthing better done farther away from the deck.
Yeah, the box is for the amount of Volts is receives and then distributes. I think those have like a 4v preout? But I could be wrong.
looks like i was way off

I believe it is the power supply for the display.

This is for the 4 volt preouts.
Makes a world of difference when running an amp.
I'd never hook another amp up w/out running at least 4 volts to it.
Voltage from your HU allows your amp more power and runs cleaner.
Your thinking of the Eclipse balanced line adapter.Originally Posted by BCONNELLY
Its the DC-DC converter. The box he speaks of only has 1 cable connected to it and that's it. No outputs of any kind.

your all wrong. Thats part of the brain. eclipse couldnt fit it all inside so they had to put some of it outside. my deck has the same thing on it.
my 8443 has a dangling box too :O

I know on the Clarion DRX9255 the external box thingy was the DC/DC convertor. I can only assume the same for the Eclipse's, but I honestly have no idea![]()

Just called Eclipse for all of you. It is the transformer box for the Display. My 8052 has it also.
