Alpine 9835 vs waiting 9855

I'm growing impatient.. and the fact that the new date for the 9855 is late may doesn't help matters. I can get a brand new 9835 for $330 shipped.. is this worth doing or waiting for the new model? I'm a little confused at the fact that the new model has a lower MSRP than the old one.. does this make sense to anyone?

From what many many people have said. If you have an I-pod... Wait for the 9855... If you don't, then the 9835 will be awesome for you

Got mine about 1.5 months ago at Etronics.com for just over $400 shipped.

And as far as comparing them, I've looked at the pics and specs of the 9855, and this may just be preliminary, but I'm glad I got the 35 while it's still available. I don't like the look of the glide touch and I think they made the whole thing too plain looking in general. Just my .02.

Nonetheless, I settled on a new Pioneer DEH-P960MP for 400 bucks, what I would have paid for a used 9835. Not saying for anyone to stop looking, I just got impatient.. but there are other good HUs out there, though the 9835 seems to be this fabled creature that is as elusive as the Loch Ness.

Doesn't look like I'll be giving up my 35 for the 55. That Glide touch crap would be all but worthless to me in my truck, as well as the ipod interface since I don't have one.
I don't think that touch pad would hold up as well as whats already there, its a nice gesture though. The only thing I can adjust on the head unit while I'm driving in my truck is the volume, the rest the remote is a must. Since its a purpose built vehicle its not exactly a smooth ride cushy ride, which I can't stand anyways. I'm glad I got my 35 while I could of. Then again its just my opinion.
