    Alpine 9847

Would this be a good head unit for my system and needs? It will be going in my daily driver but I won't need anything too advanced. I will be running a Profile AP1040 for my Kappa speakers and a Viper D600.1 for my 10L7 with it. I seen it has 3 pre-outs which is what I would need so if this would be good for my needs, then I will order it. What do you guys think about the quality and reliability of these headunits? I have a Sony now so I am sure this would be better.

It would be the 2005 replacement for the 2004 9827.

I would much prefer a Pioneer unit of the same trim with a little more processing. Crossovers and EQ's on a head unit is very convenient.

It would probably be the 3700 but they took out the xovers this year. I'd look at the p6700, which is $20 more than the 9847. I'm pretty sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere than retail.

    Re: Alpine 9847

One more question about the 9847. I will be running 3.5s with the HU and I will also have 2 external amps(subs and mids). The 9847 has a power ic function to turn off the internal amp to make the sound better when running external amps. How much of a difference would that make in sound and what would happen with the 3.5s if I would turn it off? I think I will be getting this one because of the 3 pre-outs.

    Re: Alpine 9847

If your 3.5's are getting power from the HU amp, then turning off the internal amp will turn off the power source for the 3.5s = no sound.
