Some questions on product and feature nomenclature to find the best receiver for me

I want to replace a older tuner/receiver that is in a traditional auto receiver frame but is actually the outdoor player for my RV. Our primary entertainment comes from a substantial collection of about 1000 music CDs. Our speakers are capable of the high fidelity source and I'm really hoping to find something that makes the use easier since often guests are making music decisions. Ideally I would just replace the unit I have with a CD/tuner that would allow the user to load a new CD while one is currently playing, without the content being interrupted. I hope I am in the right topic for this and any direction would be greatly appreciated.

If I can load them in their original format instead of compressed MP3/4 with bad high and low end. How large a hard drive do I need to load 1000 full spectrum audio CDs?

I can buy a 2TB HD that will hold all the content from 1000 CDs? If that's the case the easy way to do this I presume is to download the music and buy a receiver with a USB connection to bring that music in?
