They are the rca outputs from the back of the deck used to send signal to aftermarket amplifiers...the ddin you are looking at has 2v preouts for front, rear, and sub. The higher the output voltage the cleaner/stronger audio signal you will have going to your amp(s) thus reducing distortion at higher volumes.

Distortion comes from improperly set gains, which is not an issue whether it's 2V pre-outs or 4V pre-outs. You might hear a little more hiss from the speakers if you can compare a 2V head unit to a 4V head unit, but it's situational.
That price for the X5500BHS just makes me shake my head in disgust. It's a great deal for you, but don't ask a Pioneer shop to match that price.

true...i was speaker in a broader sense since the OP didnt know what pre-out were i didnt want to get into gain and level matching....to be more specific with lower voltage you would need to increase the input sensitivity(gain) moreso than with the higher voltage signal to achieve the same volume and thus is many cases people take it too far thinking "oh its not as loud as it should be" but yes you are right

So I should find a different unit? I don't have speakers that aren't stock besides my sub.

Just save yourself the headache and Amp the front stage at the same time.

Might as well just keep the headunit uninstalled honestly, it's much easier to do it all at once or at least run wires for the fronts now

A shop that sells pioneer. He says that because amazon is selling that radio for close to or below dealer price. Internet shops selling equipment for dealer price is killing off local stereo shops.
