Best double din for 400 or less?

Trying to figure out which double din head unit is the best for under $400. I'd like to stay with pioneer or Kenwood, but others can be considered

It's for a friends 2000 gmc. He doesn't use or have any amps for speakers but has a little amp for is mtx 8's in te back. Nothing major. Something that will make his speakers sound good. Lol that's what he says.

For 400 most of the units will be better than stock, so his options are unlimited. He can drop his prices down n still get a decent unit as long as he's not worried about all the options

If he doesn't mind buying used look at Pioneer 3200dvd, 3200bt, 4200dvd, 4300dvd ect....4v outs, 8 band eq and much more for very reasonable prices. 3200's go for $150-225. 4200/4300's for $200-275.

I just got this one and it is pretty nice. 4v, USB, BT, etc. Just a hair over $400, but whats an extra $20.

get pioneers new line for the 2013 models. i have the pioneer avh p8400 and am thinking of selling it for the new avh xs8500

anyway for him the pioneer avh-x5500 should be great for him. new updated features, amazing screen resolution, tons of features and is the best looking one available

Personally I like the 5500 better. I've "played" with the 4400 and I like the 5500 better. I've owned Sony HU before and in my experience with them they ran hot. So my preference it Pioneer. That's just my opinion though.

Personally I like the 5500 better. I've "played" with the 4400 and I like the 5500 better. I've owned Sony HU before and in my experience with them they ran hot. So my preference it Pioneer. That's just my opinion though.

correct, and also the 4400 has a very cheap display with pixelated words. i would never own any double din multimedia unit unless its pioneer

I just bought a AVH-X5500 on Amazon for $350 brand new. The guy has 2 left in stock. Great deal, I'll take my chances on Pioneer's warranty for that price.

I also picked up the parking brake bypass on Amazon for $24 too.

For those that said they have the X5500:

Do you guys have Iphone or Android. If you have Android could you offer up some comments on how well it works and what features you have/like with the android. I am stuck between the Kenwood DDX790 and the X5500 and looking for anybody that can sway me in one direction over the other.

Not trying to thread jack but do these double dins come with a plug and play harness for the stock car harness? Im not trying to cut or splice/soder wires.
