Questions on HU settings

I have a JVC KD-R530 HU and was wondering what the frequency and Q settings in the picture below are and do.

Freq is the center point of the EQ curve.
Q is the width of the curve.

I have a sub in my truck, so what would be the best settings for loud, clear bass.

One more question though. I see people saying different stuff all over, so does raising the Q affect more frequencies?

The Q is the width of the spread of the frequencies affected by the boost or gain you set. A higher Q makes that spread more narrow or peaky. This makes sense when you watch the video.
