please suggest a receiver
Hi there,
I live off-grid and am putting together a home audio system that runs on 12 volt electricity. I am interested in buying a car stereo that would work for my configuration. Right now I am looking at a nice set of shelf speakers by Wharfedale, a helix b five for amping and I would like some advice on a receiver.
I would like a unit that is electrically efficient, will play FM stations, has more than one input (ipod and computer, maybe sat radio at some point), works with a remote and has demure styling (no flashing lights, don't even want colored lights). Something that will allow bluetooth connectivity for the iphone would be cool too (calls and/or music).
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: please suggest a receiver
Pioneer anything, pretty much.
Re: please suggest a receiver
I like the pioneer 80 PRS. What do folks think is a good competitor to this unit... something that has clean and simple styling.
If I were to hook this up to the helix B Five, two real nice book shelf speakers, two sets of sattelite speakers and a sub-woofer, what other primary components do I need?
Also, is there a reasonable way to wire what I list above, as well as two more sattelite speakers for occasional outdoor use?
Keep in mind I am trying to be very energy efficient.
Thanks,
b
Re: please suggest a receiver
A nice old school Alpine would be sweet like a 9813 or 9815 because of built in amp plus tons of EQ features and the ability to turn off all the lights...
Re: please suggest a receiver
Efficiency isn't going to be any different between receivers. If you're not using it to drive speakers they draw very little current.
