    Little help with the DEH-80PRS

Hi all, Mines on the way! But to any of you that have installed theres, Can you tell me if I can run a portable HD? Costcos got 1tb western digital drives for $100.

I'd like to save the trouble of buying the drive, populating it with music, only to find it wont work.

Can one of you first users of the 80, please confirm if it will drive a hard drive, and if there are any size limits?

    Thanks.

1TB drive should work fine as long as its a portable hdd (usb powered). The drive would have to be formatted to fat32. There is a limit of 15,000 songs (mp3, aac, wma). There is also supposed to be this cool feature called music browser. When you first connect a usb device to the head unit, it will catalog the contents and you can browse similar to an ipod (genre, album, artist etc..).

It should only read the first 750gb, anything in the partition behind that won't be read. I don't know about the 80PRS specifically, but that was the standard for all previous Pioneer decks with active USB slots. I'd plug mine in and see, but my Alienware and external HDD are both 750gb.

    Stupid Loud.
