Thinking about going to pick it up tomorrow.
would this be a big upgrade from my kenwood kdc-mp245?
This deck looks pretty sweet.
any info would help![]()

i like mine front rear sub time alignment, 5 band parametric or 7band graphic eq, builtin highpass, no low pass though, ipod integration could be better but it works, only reason i dont like it is not having an aux plug something alpine makes u buy separate overall im satisfied with mine cant wait for my bluetooth adapter to come in

It is a solid headunit. I had a few problems with mine though, I didn't like the lack of audio-control on the deck, and pretty much all of the things you would expect it to have are optional standalone units. I'm much happier with the Pioneer DEH-9800BT.

only problem with pioneer is the limits of time-alignment some people dont need it but i for one sees that as a must have so last year when i was looking for a deck that wasnt old and out-dated i was limited and pioneer only had the $1300 p99rs so that was out and i typically dont like kenwood decks so this was a go to deck for me

doesnt come with built in aux? weird. i mean all the specs look amazing on it compared to what i have now lol.
It's hopelessly outgunned by Pioneer DEH-80PRS.
Pioneer features that Alpine head unit does not have:
Independent L/R equalizer
2-way active front stage capable
Auto tune.
i went ahead and got the alipne dca-117.
that pioneer deck sounds promising.

It's crummy. Just like any new Alpine headunit is. You have to buy an imprint or add-on for every single thing you could want. So many other decks come with it all and more. I'd keep an eye out for a used Alpine 9887 or 9855, Eclipse CD5030, or the newly beloved Pioneer that has been mentioned.
Oh, and I've never used it. That's just my general take on it. And those are the other units I'd look at I think would oust it. The one I've used that compares pretty directly to it (except with more of everything built in), is the Kenwood x994.

The 117 is a SQ deck. Not extra BS. And it does it very well. I hear its the last true SQ deck they are making, they are putting all the R&D on processors now.
And about the Pioneer 80.. Its still a pioneer

You should quit talking. The 117 is 2 way active capable, auto tune, and independent L/R. You have to have the Imprint pieces, but in the end its still cheaper than the 80PRS.
If you want to go with an all in one unit I have a CDA-9887, KTX-100EQ, KTP445 Amp, and the 400BT module. If you want it it goes as a set.

i would take my 80 prs over the 117 any day ,way better deck and worth the extra for ,being not having to buy an imprint or any extra's to make it work to it's full capabilities.
