headunits with active/passive option

alright so i need a headunit that has the option to switch to passive. ive heard of the pioneer 800 and 880. also the eclipse one.. are there any others? any touchscreen models with this option? thanks

Maybe my understanding is off, but if the xover is controlled by the HU doesn't that make it active not passive?

Alpine 9833, 9835, 9853, 9855, 9965 (all 3 way)
Clarion DRZ9255 (4 way)
Pioneer P99RS (4 way)
You already got the Pioneer Premier DEH-P880/800PRS (3 way)
I believe the Alpine 701 combo can do 4 way
You've also got the Pioneer P9 combo which I believe does 3 way

I can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's others out there.

Oh yeah, and you also mentioned the Eclipse model... 7200 MKII (3 way). There may be a couple other ones too from Eclipse but that's a brand I never got overly familiar with.

I'm just taking a guess at it, but I don't think most people would specifically ask for a HU that has the option to set up a passive network.

Does the new 117 do 3 way without Imprint?

Not sure on the 117. As far as I know its the same internally as the 9887.

As for Eclipse the CD7000, CD7100, 7200MKII, CD8445, and a bunch of other CD8xxx series.

Eclipse needs to keep making new HUs and sells them in the US

The US doesn't want to pay for quality. That's why there's a very limited number of quality HUs available on the current market. Check out what other companies offer in Europe. We pretty much get shit on quality wise with only a few exceptions.

yea idk, my buddy has his all set to passive. and by pressing a button on his HU he goes to active

The Eclipse 8443 and 8053 can switch back and forth from normal to "pro"(active) mode. The 8443 has an internal amp, but the 8053 is a dead-head. I've been using them for...8 years now.
