Icon8 Help with USB on 7100bt

Been a loooooong time since I've posted on here. But I have a newer Pioneer headunit. The 7100BT. Is there some kind of special USB flash drive you have to use with the USB inputs of this unit.?? I loaded my flash drive with MP3s and when I try to use it the head unit reads "FORMAT READ" and just sits there. It's like it can't read it or something. Am I missing something.??

The owners manual located here says that the memory card must be 256 megs or larger and the file system must be fat16 or fat32.

That's the main thing - pretty much all the HUs that can use a USB storage device require FAT/32. It's possible if you're using Winders© and you've reformatted it, it's using NTFS (I say reformatted since most come formatted FAT/32 OOTB).

Simple fix: plug it in, format, select fat/32 from the FileSYstem drop down.

That's what I don't understand either. I looked up properties on the drive and it says it's FAT 32. And it's an 8GB drive as well. Thats why I'm at a loss. But thanx anyways guys.

Well, it has to be the flash drive. I got a cheap 2GB drive for Xmas and I put a few files on their and it worked like a charm. Oh well, I guess I'll use my GeekSquad drive for bigger files and what not.

Pretty good for the most part. Nice sound. The blue display is VERY visible even in direct sunlight. Keep in mind I'm only running a PRS 720 for a pair of Phoenix Gold "octane" subs. A PRS 320 pushing a pair of 5-1/4 Premier coaxes in the doors. This my winter beater so I wasn't going to go overboard with the system in it.
