Pioneer or Kenwood?

I'm looking to trade a pair of BNIB true bass ultra 8's for a good head unit. So far my options are; Kenwood KDC-x693 or Pioneer DEH-5800MP. If you got an opinion I want to hear it or if you have one for trade. Thanks

I think that low end kenwood > low end pioneer and high end pioneer > high end kenwood. Just my two cents

Definitely the Kenwood if you have a choice between those two models.

i went from a pioneer to a kenwood back to a pioneer and the kenwood was cleaner by far. too bad it got stolen

The 693 is probably the best bang for the buck when compared to all HUs in it's range. I've got one in my gf's car and I recommend this unit to anyone who inquires about it.

Well do you mean Pioneer and Kenwood or Premier and Excelon? I hear the quality flip-flops between the two (ergo Kenwood > Pioneer, Premier > Excelon).

if you go with pioneer your shooting yourself in the foot, go with kenwood hands down

Not to hijack, but what about Kenwood v Clarion? Everyone raves about that 693, but there's a Clarion DXZ785USB at almost the exact same price, but which would be better?
