Alpine 9847

When it came out, was it a higher end unit? is there any other useful info anyone can give me about the unit?(like quirks, glitches or otherwise)

That is one of the more basic 2005 models. The higher end models from 2005 were the 9853 and the 9855. The best from 2005 was the DVA-9965.

9847 is one of my favorite budget HUs. Basic, no frills, decent sound. Even had a few different colors of illumination to match your dash.

I'd have to say I like it's predecessor, the 9827. It's got a little better style, in my opinion, and it's got 4 volt pre outs. In 2005 all but the 9855 and the 9965 had 2 volt pre outs. It doesn't change color though like the 9847.

DVA-9965 has 4-volt front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs, I been eye'ing this deck for awhile.

ah okay, I snagged one(sans faceplate) from a local junkyard out of a legend, I'm waiting for the wiring harness to get here to make sure it works
