Kenwood DDx512 firmware update help please!

Ok, so my neighbor has an 06? mustang gto with the DDx512 kenwood unit..Well we've been trying to upload a picture from my usb drive to his unit to set as a background..We both read that we needed the firmware update to do so

Well i've downloaded it,decompressed it and saved it onto one of my cd-r's..Well we started his car like the instructions say for it, inserted the disc..it then says reading and then it pops up like its gonna play a song or something for a spot second then goes to disc error..

What are we doing wrong?

I made sure his cd read option is set at 1..

Is it the type of disc im trying to use? its a Memorex RD-R 52x 700mb 80min

edit: am i decompressing it wrong or something? i save the file to my computer,then i hit extrat all ect..and finish..then i send the extracted file to disc drive: E or w/e..

Bump =/ Anyone got any ideas? if not which kenwood # should i try calling?
