That is for the Ai-Net if you are using an outboard processor like the older Alpine PRA-H400 or 600 or the newer 501 or 701.

oh....so what do those things do?
They add extended capabilities and superior outboard DAC's to those that are inside the deak. They can allow you to run 3 way active systems, do time correction, equalization, etc, etc. It all depends on what processor you use. For regular use leave the switch on "Norm"

what would be the cheaper of those, to get me active?
Shoot for the older versions then like the PRA-H400 or PXA-H501 they sell in the $100 - $200 range typically.
