    just installed cda-9887...

    hello everyone,
i just installed my first head unit and noticed that my radio doesn't sound all that great anymore. it sounds like there's a lot more static. my stock unit was fine and i know i didn't get this unit to listen to the radio but it's just irritating when my stock unit was fine and now i get a lot of static. any suggestions? thanks.

Do you have a power antenna? Did you connect the power antenna lead to the ant wire/remote wire if there is no antenna lead? (I don't remember if there was a seperate antenna lead in my harness.

when it comes to static it seems the stock radios are always better. I think its because of the the aftermarket decks have more fidelity then stock causing more static. With my Alpine there is a setting in the setup menu to change the fidelity from hifi to normal or stable. might want to check that out also.

My aftermarket decks have always pulled in radio stations better than oem. I guess as long as the antenna works well its no biggie.

The 9887, afaik has on setting like that.

    Re: just installed cda-9887...

my fm reception improved dramatically. although it may have a lot to do with my amps being moved under my seats isntead of being in the trunk. having them in teh trunk area may have caused interference i think. maybe not...

all i know is that my radio reception is better, even though i dont listen to it much.

Amp placement should have nothing to do with radio reception

    Re: just installed cda-9887...

I just installed the CDA 9883 but I'm also having the same problem, the radio stations don't sound a clear as they should be. My Alpine does have a seperate ant wire and remote wire, but they way my old Clarion was hooked up it had both blue wires out of the harness hooked up together along with both of the blue wire out of the car harness? The people at Mobile One 7yrs. ago hooked up a Pioneer in my 1994 Impala SS and they hooked up the ground wire from the OEM harness to the radio harness and then spliced into that connection and had ground wire to attach somewhere, is that a common thing?

    Thats fine for hte ground.

I would seperate the remote and antenna see if that helps at all.. though it probably won't. :|
