MP3 loading on my 9855 is quick. But I do despise glidetouch. I have gotten used to it, but I still hate it.
what is this glide touch ? what makes it so bad

Glide touch is kinda a rip off of the Ipod wheel, but a lot harder to use. I ended up going with a 9855 for the sole fact that it is a newer head unit and had less play time than any 9835 I could find. I use the remote for almost everything, so don't really have to use the glide touch anyway.

'35, no question.
I just ordered the 9885 and should have it by the end of the week, it's replacing an old clarion 5760 cassette deck and cd changer. I do like good SQ but I'm not as much of an audiophile as most here I guess, my main concern being ipod interface and decent SQ.
Sorry, just saw the title was 9855!

They are the same unit...55' just has the glidtouch. So thats what its going to come down to.
I'd do the 35 for sure, load times initially on the MP3 CD are kind of slow but scroling between songs aren't.
guess ill have to go with the 35, since i been hearing so many bad things about this glidetouch

I have a 9855, the main reason I bought it over a 9835 was because it was compatible with my factory steering wheel controls in my Altima.
The glidetouch is kinda annoying at first, but once you have all your setting done, you don't really need to use it much. I use my remote and steering wheel controls anyways. The 9855 is a really good HU. Before the 9855, I owned a 9813, which was my alltime fav deck.
I think the 9855 looks sharper than the 9835 too. As far as specs, I'm pretty sure they are exatcly the same.
i like my 55. i like the glidetouch.

I've got a 9835 right now, its kinda a s1ut since its on its third vehicle with me...But Its a fantastic HU
I scrambled to find one right after the glide touch POS's came out, but I'm seriously thinking about selling it now for a new alpine. I use my iPod with it and the interface is so F***ing slow! You can forget about trying to navigate to a specific song when you have 30gigs unless it starts with A or Z, it just takes forever to scrollMp3 CD's are fine, but they also have a lot less music.
Some of the new units with the full speed interface, and the new blue tooth adapter have caught my attention...![]()
