ah crap, buddy's HU not powering up...

Friend of mine bought a new Alpine unit last year some time. Went to start his car today and the cd player didn't start up with it. I popped it out, checked the fuse and all the wiring and everything seems intact. Is there anything else it could be or did he fry it?

easiest way to eliminate any wiring issues is take it out, and hook it directly to the batt and see if it turns on, twist the red and yellow wires together put that on the pos terminal and obviously black on the neg, if it doesnt come on like that it is prolly dead

^^ correct or just run a wire from the red and yellow to the battery and leave the negative where it is what ever is easier
