Eclipse CD5000 question

Anybody out there know if you can turn off the internal amp on the CD5000?
And if you can, how do you do it?

I asked this question several months ago and was told no you can't. But I was also told that the preouts are isolated from the internal amp so no worries about sound quality being degraded.
