alpine vs. eclipse vs. pioneer premier

i'm deciding between an alpine CDA-9857 or CDA-9855, eclipse CD7000 or pioneer DEH-P980BT. i had an alpine HU years ago and loved it, but i've read their HUs from the last few years have been disappointing. i have never owned an eclipse but i know they're respected and have a large following. i don't know much about pioneer's premier series. bluetooth would be nice, but its not absolutely necessary. i don't plan to use the gps/navi on the eclipse CD7000, but its the only eclipse unit with OEL, all the dot matrix HUs are fugly. ipod functionality is not important to me. i'm considering the alpine CDA-9855 for the bass engine pro and time correction

which is the best HU?

For alpine I would back track 1 year and get those models (9835,9815)

Pioneer I would look into the P880PRS for pure SQ and tuning (no bt, no color screen, no pretty lights no still looks simple and nice)

Eclipse CD7000 is an excellent choice but at a cost (Mine is coming tomorrow)


If I were you I would weight it out between CD7000 and P880PRS and skip out the Alpine, unless you can find one for a good price.

you can get the cd7000 for about $520 shipped. Mine will arrive Monday. I also have owned the 9835 and if you can find a mint unit, go for it, one of the best decks I have ever had the privilage to use.
