    [Question] Premier DEH-P960MP

I'm lookin' to buy this deck, as I was gonna wait out for the Alpine 9857, but then found out that it was utter ****, quality wise, compared the Alpines of previous generations.

I went to a car audio shop today, and the guy said that it had been discontinued, and that they had ordered the new Pioneer stuff yesterday.

So, I looked on pioneers site, and found nothing of this. The deck is still on there, and I have seen no mention of the new 2006 line-up. Is there any truth to what the guy said, or is he just misinformed?

If you check the website again you'll see the only the 960 remains on their from last year. The 780 is up there now and only the 880 and the 980 are the only '06 units yet to be displayed on the website.

Hmm... so, then, I wonder what I should do, wait it out and get the 980 (which comes in May, from a press release I just read) or get the 960 now...

I really like the look of the 960, but the 980 is a bit better technically speaking, and I have no idea what it looks like...

I'll probably wait it until the 980 comes out, then decide...

    Re: [Question] Premier DEH-P960MP

I'd definitely wait for the 980. The 880PRS is going to be a nice deck as well and don't rule out the 780, it looks pretty promising too. The 960 had too many problems to justify taking a chance on it. The outer face had too many problems which is why Pioneer "finally" decided to ditch that design and go back to more reliable solutions.

I would definintely wait for a '06 model.
