Volume goes goes down

I have the Pioneer P80MP and I noticed the volume goes down for a while and goes back up. It happens often, can it be a bad connecton?

is there any relation to speed or engine rpm?

I posted this on tempro and I had replies that it might be the ASL. I am going to check that out, hopefully thats it.
