Subwoofer not working properly with my Pioneer DEH-p6400

Hello, I have a Pioneer DEH-p6400 Cd player, and I just installed it in my car with a 600 watt amp and a 10 inch kicker. I had the same amp and sub in my old car, but with a different deck. Everything was fine in my old car, concerning the bass and quality of sound, but in my new car with my deh-P6400 the bass is not making much difference. The power for the amp is hooked directly to the battery and controled with a switch, and the subwoofer beats but not very loud. My factory car speakers (2000 ford escort zx2) are louder have louder bass than the sub. It seems that the speakers are trying to take care of the treble and the bass at the same time while the sub is just sitting there beating quietly. I have played around with every possible combination on my deck, with sub control and everything but the problem presists. Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Are you sure you're using the crossover? Are you sure you have the sub amp hooked to the sub preout?? Are you using atleast 8 gauge power wire for your sub amp.??

If you answered yes to all these questions then its something to do with your sub pre outs.
