    Alpine Headunits with Harddrive

I was wondering what this exactly meant? I was looking to buy a alpine cda 9815, and i saw that it has a hard drive connection..does this mean i can fill a hard drive with music than just connect it to the head unit, and ill be able to access all my music off of that? Thankss

I believe its a hard drive thats already made tho. I dont think you can just plug a regular drive into the system or sumthin. From what I remember they are pretty expensive.

you are probably talking about the HDA-5460

it's a hu that already comes with a built-in hd (you detach the front face plate and connect it to your puter via USB port... the hd is in the faceplate)

well don't feel sad... im just telling you the most reasonable explanation for this feature...

if there was a way to connect a HD to this hu, don;t you think we would have already seen someone with it? how come i've never in life stumbled upon someone who had or any information about this?

    Re: Alpine Headunits with Harddrive

That just means the 9815 will control the HDA-5460. Alpine no longer offers the 5460, but has the 420i ipod adapter.

I looked at the 5460, but the software is dreadfully slow, and if the hard drive takes a dump, it will be very expensive to replace.
