$500 to spend on stereo for a '91 Thunderbird...

Mostly rap and some hardish rock. SQL setup. 1991 Thunderbird. Stock electrical system. (I'm enquiring for a friend's system, he asked me to find out what sh|t to get, so here I am)

Looking to buy a setup within the next 2 weeks. He's got $500 bucks to spend on everything but a sub and sub amp. He wants to buy everything but the sub and amp within the next couple of weeks, and then upgrade the sub/amp combo in a couple of months, probably something like an Atlas 15 or a single RL-P *maybe*

    So, head unit suggestions?
    Front components?
    Rear Fill?
    Amp?

I'm just looking for suggestions for, well everything. How much money should I allocate to each piece?

Sorry for the extremely open-ended inquiry. Thanks for the help!

Shouldnt this be in a PM?
Anyway, to the original poster, start with the head unit, it is the "heart" of the entire setup. Get one that has all the features he thinks he will need (mp3, ipod compatible, etc, etc) and go from there. Might be tough to get a decent front stage and amp, plus a head unit, for $500, but its definitely possible. Just look in the for sale section, and keep an eye on ebay.

You cant put 500 on "everything" and expect to get anything decent.

Get a head unit first... grab a single 12, build/boy a good box. Just build as the $ comes around.. works much better.
